Know How to get aadhar card

Documents Required for Aadhar Card:

If a person wishes to enroll for the new Aadhaar card, he/she is required to fill up a form that is available online on the official website of UIDAI and then submit it to any one of the UIDAI authorized Aadhaar Enrolment Centres spread across India. Not only that, he/she must attach that form with self-attested copies of certain supporting documents which are required for the Aadhar verification of furnished details of the applicant. These documents are sub-sectioned into basically four categories. These documents will be required when you apply for a new aadhaar card or when you want to make any changes in your existing card. Follow the given steps, the documents required for Aadhar card:




List of Identity Proofs – Documents Required for New Aadhaar Card

You can submit any of the supporting documents are accepted by the UIDAI as Identity proof:
 

  • Passport.
  • PAN card.
  • Either Ration or PDS Photo card.
  • Voter Identification card.
  • Driving licence of the applicant.
  • Photo identification cards issued by the Government of India.
  • Service photo ID cards that is issued by a PSU.
  • Job card of NREGS.
  • Photo identification that is issued by a Recognised Educational Institution.
  • Licence of Arms.
  • Photo Bank ATM card.
  • Photo Credit card.
  • Photo card of the Pensioner.
  • Photo card of the Freedom Fighter.
  • Photo Passbook of Kisan.
  • Photo card of CGHS.
  • Certificate of Marriage.
  • Document containing proof of marriage of the applicant issued originally by the marriage Registrar.
  • Legally approved name change certificate.
  • ECHS Photo card.
  • Residing Address card of the applicant that contains both the name and the photo that was originally issued by the Department of Posts.
  • Identity Certificate containing the photo of the applicant on a proper letterhead issued by either a Gazetted Officer or a Tehsildar.
  • Either a handicapped medical certificate or a disability Identification card that is issued by either the State Government, the UT Government or any such Administration.



List of Address Proofs – Documents Required for Aadhaar Registration

Documents that contain the proof of residing address of the applicant are one of the most important documents to be submitted to the authorized Aadhaar centre. These documents must be proper because the Aadhaar card is sent to the address specified by the applicant in the form. If the applicant fails to present the correct address proof or update the same, he may not receive the Aadhaar card. The following documents are accepted by the UIDAI as identity proof for Aadhaar registration:

  • Passport.
  • Passbook or Bank Statement.
  • Account statement or passbook of the Post Office.
  • Ration Card.
  • Voter Identification card.
  • Driving licence of the applicant.
  • Photo identification cards issued by the Government.
  • PSU issued Service photo ID card with address.
  • Previous 3 months’ electricity bill.
  • Water bill as long as it is not more than 3 months’ old.
  • Previous three months’ landline bill related to telephone.
  • Receipt showing the Property Tax of the last 3 months.
  • Last three months’ Credit Card statement.
  • Insurance policy.
  • Photo and a letter with address signed by the bank on letterhead.
  • Signed letter with address and photo on the letterhead of the company issued by the registered office.
  • Photo and signed letter with address issued by a well-known educational enterprise on their letterhead.
  • Job card of NREGS.
  • Arms licence.
  • Pensioner card.
  • Freedom fighter card.
  • Kisan passbook.
  • CGHS card.
  • ECHS card.
  • Address certificate along with a photo on their letterhead that is issued either by an MP, MLA, Gazetted Officer or Tehsildar.
  • Address Certificate issued by the Village Panchayat head or any authority equivalent to them for rural areas.
  • Assessment order of the Income Tax.
  • Registration certificate of vehicle.
  • Registered agreement for sale, lease or rent of the applicant’s residential address.
  • Photo and address card by the Department of Posts.
  • Caste and Domicile certificate along with a photo that the State Government has issued.
  • Previous 3 month’s bill of gas connection.
  • Either a handicapped medical certificate or a disability Identification card that is issued by either a State Government, UT Government or any Administrations
  • Spouse’s or partner’s passport.
  • For minors, parents’ passport is required.




List of Date of Birth Proofs – Documents Required for Aadhaar

The documents containing the date of birth proof of the applicant which will work for Aadhaar card registration are as follows:
 

  • Certificate of birth.
  • Certificate or SSLC Book.
  • Passport of the applicant.
  • Date of birth Certificate on their letterhead issued by either the Tehsildar or the Gazetted Officer.
  • PAN Card.
  • Certificate of Date of Birth which is issued by Group A Gazetted Officer on letterhead. 
  • Marksheet which has been issued by any Government Board or University.
  • Government Photo Id Card or Photo Identity Proof or PSU issued ID card which contains DoB.
  • Pension Payment Order (Central or State).
  • Central Government Health Service Scheme Photo Card or Ex-Servicemen Contributory Health Scheme Photo Identity card.

Proofs of Relationship Documents Required for Aadhaar Enrollment

The list of documents required for ascertaining the relationship of the applicant with the family’s head for Aadhar card enrolment are as follows:
 

  • PDS Card.
  • Job card of MNREGA.
  • Medical card issued by the State Government, CGHS, ECHS and also ESIC.
  • Canteen card of the Army.
  • Pension card.
  • Passport of the applicant.
  • Any family entitlement document issued by any Central or State Government.
  • Registrar of Birth/municipal Corporation or any local government Birth Certificate.

Any one document from each category is required to be enclosed with the form for successful issuance of the Aadhaar card.
 



Documents Required for Changing Address in Aadhaar Card

Proof of Address – You can submit one of these documents as address proof:
 

  • Passport.
  • Bank Statement or Passbook.
  • Account Statement of Post Office or Passbook.
  • Ration Card.
  • Voter ID.
  • Driving License.
  • Govt. Photo ID cards or PSU Issued service photo identity card.
  • Electricity Bill (Not more than 3 months old).
  • Water bill (Not more than 3 months old).
  • Telephone Landline Bill (Not be more than 3 months old).
  • Property Tax Receipt (Not be more than 1 year old).
  • Credit Card Statement (Not be more than 3 months old).
  • Gas Connection Bill (Not be more than 3 months old).
  • Signed Letter with Photo on the Bank’s letterhead.
  • Signed Letter with Photo issued on registered company’s letterhead.
  • Signed Letter with Photo issued on Recognized Educational Institution’s letterhead.
  • MGNREGA Job Card.
  • Arms License.
  • Pensioner’s Card.
  • Freedom Fighter Card.
  • Kissan Passbook.
  • Registered Sale/Rent/Lease Agreement.
  • Certificate of Address with photo issued by MP or MLA or Gazetted or Tehsildar on letterhead.
  • Certificate of Address issued by head of Village Panchayat or its equivalent authority (for rural areas).
  • Income Tax Assessment Order.
  • Vehicle Registration Certificate.
  • CGHS / ECHS Card.
  • Address Card with Photo issued by Department of Posts.
  • Caste and Domicile Certificate with Photo Issued by State Govt.
  • Disability ID card/handicapped medical certificate Issued by respective State or UT Governments or Administrations.
  • Insurance Policy.
  • Passport of Spouse.
  • Passport of Parents (in case of Minor).
  • Marriage Certificate Issued by the Government Containing address.
     

Proof of Date of Birth – Submit any of these documents as the proof of Date of Birth:
 

  • Birth Certificate.
  • Passport.
  • PAN.
  • SSLC Certificate or Book.

Documents needed for changing address in the Aadhaar card are same that are needed for proof of residence at the time of enrolment. You can use any one of the proofs to update your residential address in your Aadhaar.
 

Documents Required for Aadhaar Card for Children

The list of documents required for issuing Aadhaar card for children are similar to that for a normal applicant. However, one of the parents has to provide their Aadhaar copy in addition to the documents required by normal applicants for obtaining a child’s Aadhaar card. Also, children below 5 years do not have to submit their biometric data. It is only required when they attain 5 years of age. It is then when their biometric data is taken. The following documents are required for aadhar card enrollment for children.
 

  • Proof of residence.
  • Proof of identity.
  • Birth certificate.
  • ​Aadhaar of any one of the parents.

The documents accepted as Identity proof are given below:
 

  • Passport Copy.
  • PAN Card Copy.
  • Voter ID Copy.
  • Driving License.

The documents accepted as Address proof are given below:
 

  • Passport Copy of Spouse
  • A Copy of Ration Card
  • Voter ID Card
  • Driving License
  • Credit Card Statement (last 3 months)
  • Bank Statement Or Passbook
  • Electricity Bill (Last 3 months)
  • Water bill (Last 3 months)
  • Gas Connection Bill (Last 3 months)
  • Landline Phone Bill (Last 3 months)
  • Insurance Policy

It has to be kept in mind that applying for new Aadhaar card is purely voluntary on the part of the individual and not compulsory. Also, failing to submit all the requisite documents gives UIDAI the power to revoke the issuance of the Aadhaar card anytime they like.
